Bark has been helping protect children from the dangers of the Internet since 2015. Bark is known as a monitoring program that monitors emails, texts, and social media for concerning content. Bark is continually improving their program and I am excited to say they have added screen time management and web filtering components.

Screen Time Management and Web Filtering
The new features of Bark include screen time management and web filtering. You can create custom profiles for each child. Within the profiles, you can set up screen time schedules and disable or turn off the Internet for each child. The web filtering component allows you to filter out entire categories like streaming or specific websites like Netflix.

Bark Monitoring
As Bark monitor’s your child’s emails, texts and social media on their cell phone and other devices, it looks for instances of things like predators, cyber bullying, drugs, alcohol, suicidal ideas, depression, sexting, grooming, pornography, and more. Bark’s AI is also able to detect and analyze photos, videos, gifs, emojis, and audio since today’s teens communicate in so many different ways. The flagged activity is then sent to parents as an alert and also includes recommended actions and a list of resources for dealing with the issues that have been flagged. Bark also alerts you to risky apps that are installed on your child’s phone.
