Hi! My name is Amanda. I LOVE all things technology. How about you? Do you love technology, or do you struggle with understanding all the technology that is available? Do you have kids that seem to know more about technology than you do?
I help parents and other adults navigate the world of technology by teaching them the best tools to use and how to use them. There are lots of predators and hackers out there looking to infiltrate our devices and our lives. It is important to understand how to use the technology tools available to keep yourself and your kids safe online. I enjoy teaching others how to use technology to make their lives safer, better and easier.
I have been an IT Director for a small, private Christian school in Knoxville, Tennessee for the past eleven years. Since I work for a school, much of my day is spent helping teachers, staff and students use their technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning. But recently, I have had three people tell me that I should find a way to help parents and other people navigate technology. This blog is my answer to those requests. I will work to fill this blog with answers for how to keep children safe while they use technology. I will also include video blogs and my opinions about different technology gadgets that might be used to make life easier. I will talk about everything from software, to websites, to devices that might be of interest. I will also maintain a Facebook page, Twitter and YouTube channel to help supplement this blog. I am learning to use Instagram and Pinterest as well.
I have a wonderful husband named Greg, two great boys named Jake and Alex and a happy little dog named Gizmo. Besides playing around with all things tech, I also enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends. I hope you will join me on this journey.
